Cloning is the process of making a genetically identical organism through nonsexual means It has been used for many years to produce plants (even growing a plant from a cutting is a type of cloning). Animal cloning has been the subject of scientific experiments for years, but garnered little attention until the birth of the first cloned mammal in 1997, a sheep named Dolly. Since Dolly, several scientists have cloned other animals, including cows and mice. The recent success in cloning animals has sparked fierce debates among scientists, politicians and the general public about the use and morality of cloning plants, animals and possibly humans.
A. Answer these questions 1. Name the three life process help living being to procure energy from food? Answer: Three life processes that help living organisms to procure energy from food are: (i) Digestion (Nutrition) (ii) Respiration (iii) Transportation 2. What are Autotrophs? Name an organism other than other than green plant that is an autotroph. Answer: Autotrophs are organisms that can prepare their own food. Chlamydomonas is a type of green algae which is an example of an autotroph, other than green plants. Cyanobacteria are also an example of autotroph. 3. Name three type of heterotrophic nutrition Answer: Three types of heterotrophic nutrition are: (i) Saprophytic nutrition (ii) Parasitic nutrition (iii) Holozoic nutrition 4. What are enzymes? Answer: Enzymes are chemical substances that act as biological catalysts and are important for carrying out biochemical processes, such as digestion, in our body ...

Is it a vector quantity or a scalar quantity? Q. 2. Define the term distance. Is it a vector quantity or a scalar quantity? Q. 3. The displacement of a body can never be greater than the distance covered by a body. Is the statement true or false? Q. 4. Can a body have zero velocity and still acceleration? Give example. Q. 5. What is the nature of distance time graph for uniform motion of an object? Q. 6. What is the acceleration of a freely falling body? Q. 7. What is the acceleration of a body moving with uniform velocity? Q. 8. What does the slope of a distance-time graph gives? Q. 9. What does the area of a velocity-time graph gives? Q. 10. If a line divides any two sides of a triangles proportionally then the line is parallel to the third side Statement: If a line divides any two sides of a triangles proportionally (in same ratio), then the line is parallel to the third side. Proof: We are given ABC AD / BD = AE / CE We have to prove: DE is parallel to BC Let DE's not parallel to BC then an another line DE' is parallel to BC. Now AD / BD = AE / CE [Given] And AD / BD = AE' / CE' [ Thales Theorem ] Therefore AE / CE = AE' / CE' i.e. AE / CE + 1 = AE' / CE' + 1 i.e. AE + CE / CE = AE' + CE' / CE' i.e. CE = CE' But this is not possible until E and E' is coincident. Thus, our assumption is wrong and DE is parallel to BC. 1. What is plasma membrane? What are their functions? Ans: Plasma membrane also called as cell membrane, is the outer covering of a cell that separates the cell contents (protoplasm) from the surrounding medium. It is made up of proteins and lipids. It gives form (shape and size) to the cell It maintains the individuality of the cell (i.e. seperates cells) It keeps the cell contents in place 2. What are cell organelles ? Ans: The certain specific living parts of a cell with a definite function are celled Cell organelles. All cell are found to have same organelles and together these constitute to the basic unit of life. 3. What is cellulose and its functions? Ans: Cellulose is the main component of a plant cell wall. It is responsible for giving structural shape to the cell and also to protect the protoplasm. 4. What is a Prokaryotic cell? Give an Example. Ans: The cells that do not hav...
Sadhana Devi Vidyapith, Samastipur ASSIGNMENT -1, (2012-13) By JSUNIL Sub. – Physics, Class - X Chapter -ELECTRICITY One mark questions 1. Define the term “electric current”. 2. Define the term ‘resistivity’ of a material. 3. How is a Voltmeter connected in the circuit to measure the potential difference between two points? 4. You have two metallic wires of resistances 6 ohm and 3 ohm. How will you connect these wires to get the effective resistance of 2 ohm? 5. If the distance between two electric charges is doubled, how much will the force exerting between them change to? Two marks questions 6. State Ohm’s law. “The resistance of a conductor is 1Ω.” What is meant by this statement? 7. Why are coils of electric toaster made of an alloy rather than a pure metal? 8. Why is the series arrangement not used for domestic circuits? 9. A wire of resistivity ‘r’ is stretched to double its length. How does it affect the (a) resistance (b) resistivity? 10. Write tw...
