Question :1     A proton enters in a straight line in a uniform magnetic field along the field direction. How will its path and velocity change? Answer:    As the proton is moving along the field direction, thus no force acts on it and the velocity and the path will not change. It will keep on moving with the same speed along the field direction. Question :2     A positive charge is moving vertically upwards in magnetic field towards south. In which direction will it be deflected? Answer:    If positive charge is moving upwards the corresponding current is also upwards, the magnetic field is towards south. Using Fleming’s left hand rule force is towards east and deflection towards east. Question :3     Free electrons always keep on moving in the conductor. Even then no magnetic force acts on them in a magnetic field. Why? Answer:    In the absence of external potential di...

CBSE PHYSICS X: Magnetic Effect of current Solve Practice questions

Q. What do you understand by magnetic effect of electric current? Ans: The phenomenon due to which, a wire behaves like a magnet when electric current is passed through it, is called as the magnetic effect of electric current. Q. What is magnetic field?  Ans: The region around the magnet, where force of attraction or repulsion can be felt by magnetic materials, is called as magnetic field. Q. Why does a compass needle get deflected when brought near a bar magnet ? Ans: The magnet exerts its influence in the region surrounding it.So, the compass needle shows deflection when brought near a magnet or an electromagnet. Q. Why two magnetic field lines do not intersect each other? Ans: The magnetic field lines the magnetic field lines form closed curves and originate in fix direction inside and out side magnet so magnetic field lines do not intersect each other. Q. What happens to the deflection of the compass needle placed at a given point if the current in the straight copper w...

Q. If the magnetic field and the direction of movement of conductor is parallel,  then in what direction does the induced current flows ?  Ans: The directions of current, field and force are always perpendicular to each other on account of the Fleming's rule, none of them can be  parallel .  Q. If the direction of current and  magnetic field  is  parallel  the in which direction does the force on the conductor acts?  Ans: The directions of current, field and force are always perpendicular to each other on account of the Fleming's rule, none of them can be  parallel .  Q. Consider a circular loop of wire lying in  the plane  of the table and current is passed thru  the loop  clock wise then by applying right hand rule find the direction of  magnetic field  lines inside and outside  the loop ?  Ans: According to the right hand thumb rule, the direction of  the magnetic  field would be ...
